No long-term timeline was available for the remainder of the approval process or when the restaurant would close, but the Cunningham family, in its statement, made clear that while it was selling the physical property, it retained the rights to the business itself. Green & Company Real Estate and the Cunningham family have mutually agreed to terminate a purchase and sale agreement regarding the Water Street property, according to both parties. The restaurant is currently working to reopen in a limited capacity, though questions remain for what the future holds for Warren’s. Warren’s has come a long way from that tiny, six-stool lobster stand in the days of 25-cent per pound lobster. Located on the southern tip of the Maine coast, Warren’s Lobster House features the area’s largest selection of lobster entrees along with great seafood, steak and chicken specialties served in a comfortable and casual family atmosphere.

“Good prices – good food”

The decision was made in late February, according to Warren’s co-owner Scott Cunningham. Warren’s has been closed since early January, following flooding damage sustained during back-to-back storms that caused severe damage in coastal communities in Maine and New Hampshire. As many businesses expand, they often lose touch with the quality and small, personal touches that made them special.

Warren's plans limited reopening while property is for sale

The impact of the consecutive storms on the business and the coastline as a whole was “catastrophic,” he added. On a recent Wednesday afternoon, the dining room was nearly full when Lam’s daughter, Sophia Lau, arrived with her newborn. Newport Tan Cang still exists in Orange County, but Lam and Hua sold the restaurant in 1996 and relocated to a strip mall in San Gabriel. When the lines got too long, they expanded, first to Rowland Heights and more recently to Beverly Hills, where they opened a third location on the same block as Lawry’s the Prime Rib. The lines never subsided in San Gabriel, so they relocated to an old Marie Callender’s down the street, renovating the roomy diner with décor from Guangdong. “His family was rich,” says Lam, “but my family, no.” So she and her mother remained in Phnom Penh, where in April 1975 they were among the millions of residents ousted from their homes by the Khmer Rouge and marched at gunpoint into the jungle.

Warren's faced storm damage in recent past, too

One of the most unique features of The Lobster House is the 130 foot-long authentic Grand Banks sailing vessel, the Schooner American which is moored dockside. The Schooner is an outdoor cocktail lounge offering a full bar, luncheon menu and Lobster House specialty appetizers during the evening. A destination in itself, the Schooner has an unrivaled waterfront ambiance and is the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail before dinner while watching yachts pass by.

The commercial fishing fleet at The Lobster House dock offloads and ships millions of pounds of seafood annually and supplies much of the fresh seafood served here. During most months, casual dockside dining is an incomparable way to enjoy both the food and extraordinary waterfront view. Watch the commercial fleet at work while enjoying freshly cooked seafood from the Take-Out, which is available to be eaten dockside or taken home, or from The Raw Bar which has both an indoor bar & dining room and its own individual menu. KITTERY, Maine — The Warren’s Lobster House waterfront restaurant property has been listed for sale at $4.9 million by its longtime owners, as a prior deal for a local developer to purchase, demolish and redevelop the site has fallen through.

Free valet parking service is provided “in season” and other special times throughout the year. Tables seat eight, 10 and 12 — it’s a place where people gather to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, but Lam never stops to commemorate the restaurant’s own milestones. From there, Lam followed food service opportunities from Inglewood and Pasadena to small towns in Nebraska and South Dakota, where she honed her hospitality skills serving chow mein and egg rolls to a mostly white clientele at a Long John Silver’s-turned China Palace.

It was a 10-day walk that marked the beginning of a brutal genocide, during which nearly a quarter of Cambodia’s population would succumb to starvation and violence under Pol Pot’s Maoist regime. Cunningham owns the restaurant with his wife, Claudia Cunningham, and their children, Brad Cunningham and Colleen MacDonald. The family has owned the business outright since 2006, though they had co-owned it with a partner starting in 1984. Last weekend, on March 2, the Cunningham family updated customers on the restaurant’s reopening efforts in a message on social media. “The entire seacoast from New Hampshire all the way up to downeast Maine was impacted and there was just so much severe damage that we’re still dealing with whether it’s going to be declared a (federal emergency) disaster,” he said. The Cunningham family listed the property for sale through Pack Maynard Real Estate last week in an advertisement that touts its potential for development.

If the plan had moved forward, however, only four units would have been allowed in accordance with town code, according to Green & Company. We have been able to clean and re-assemble the gift shop area into a cozy nook that we believe you will enjoy while we continue to figure out ‘next steps,’” a Warren's social media post reads. Between two and three feet of water stood inside Warren’s following the Jan. 13 storm that hit the region, which followed a Jan. 10 storm that had already brought several inches of water into the establishment, Cunningham said. Both Lam and Hua were born in Cambodia to Chiu Chow families with roots in China’s Guangdong province. Hua remembers eating prawns prepared similar to the lobsters at Newport as a boy in Phnom Penh, where he lived until 1970, when he and his family fled to Hong Kong to escape an escalating civil war.

All entrees on our extensive menu include the “Seacoast’s Finest Salad Bar” featuring over sixty  items. She was so good at selling Hua’s recipes that the two opened their own restaurant, borrowing money from friends to start the original Newport Seafood in Santa Ana, not far from the Newport fish market where they shopped for seafood every morning. It was there in Orange County that Hua perfected Newport’s signature dishes — the house special lobster, clams with basil and bo luc lac, cubes of filet mignon dredged in enough black pepper to merit a red chile icon next to its name on Newport’s menu. Green & Company filed its original plan to demolish all structures on the Water Street site last summer, though it originally called for eight condominium units and a 20-slip marina to replace them. That rendition of the proposal was first reviewed by the town Planning Board in August. Green & Company has ended its bid to potentially redevelop the site with eight condominium units and a new 1,200-square-foot lobster pound, which would have occurred after the demolition of the 350-seat waterfront restaurant, the Chrissy D. Lobster Company and a duplex residence on the lot.

Lam is perched on the edge of her chair, telling this story from one of the private dining nooks at Newport Seafood on Las Tunas Boulevard in San Gabriel, one of three outposts in a family-run seafood mini-chain. She is 57, but has the energy of a teenager, and you get the sense she might leap into action at any minute, like a coiled spring. Down the hall are floor-to-ceiling tanks swimming with enormous crustaceans — lobsters and king crabs weighing as much as 10 pounds — that star in the restaurant’s Chinese-Vietnamese-Thai-Cambodian menu. The iconic Warren’s Lobster House’s days in Kittery may be numbered following a sale announced last month, but the restaurant’s owners assured customers they are exploring other options, such as re-opening the longtime local eatery in another location.

Wendy Lam spent several of her teenage years in a Cambodian work camp under Pol Pot’s regime before reaching a refugee camp in Thailand and later the U.S. The restaurant is located on Water Street, on the northern bank of the Piscataqua River in Kittery. The restaurant’s sign has been a perennial landmark to drivers on Route 1 coming over the Memorial Bridge from Portsmouth, N.H. “It was significantly more impactful than the one (over) a year ago,” Cunningham said of the January 2024 storm damage. Constructed on top of wooden pilings just feet above the mighty waters of the Piscataqua River on U.S.

We have made a commitment to serve only the highest quality foods in the most appetizing and professional manner possible. The restaurant was flooded in both the January 2024 storms and we are assessing the damage. “I don’t think my mom will ever retire,” she says, but when she does, Lau and her husband, Denby, who trained in the kitchen under Hua, are ready to take over the family business. Over the next two years, she and her mother would slowly make their way to California, by way of a refugee camp in Thailand, then through the Philippine Refugee Processing Center and later to Dallas before landing in L.A.’s Chinatown, where Lam began looking for work. Like many Cambodian refugees who came to this region before her, she found it in a doughnut shop.

When Vietnamese soldiers liberated the camps in 1979, a medical unit realized Lam could speak the language and recruited her as a translator. She became the unit’s cook too; in exchange, the soldiers helped her find her mother, whom she reconnected with months later in a Vietnamese border town. Thirty years ago, Wendy Lam’s boss told her she would never make it as a waitress. So when she opened her first outpost of Newport Seafood a decade later in the San Gabriel Valley, she called her old boss and invited him to dinner.

It was the only Chinese restaurant in a town of 15,000 where the main attraction was the Corn Palace — a shrine to local agriculture with outsize murals of Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson made entirely of corn husks. The Cunningham family, which has owned and operated the restaurant for the past 40 years, announced in early August on its Facebook page that it was putting the property up for sale. In a statement, the family announced a recent flood and lingering impacts of the coronavirus pandemic had taken their toll. The updated proposal had not received final land-use approval from the Kittery Planning Board by the time Green & Company and the Cunningham family called off the purchase and sale deal. The 20-slip marina was later swapped out for a new lobster wharf after Green & Company’s review of town code, which calls for the site to maintain a working waterfront component, Green confirmed. On Monday, Cunningham noted that damage from the January storms has led to the flooring and carpeting being torn up and replaced.

Symptoms of Mold Exposure: In House and More

early signs of mold in house

Since the effect of mold on people can vary greatly, either because of the amount or type of mold, you cannot rely on sampling and culturing to know your health risk. Its spores may mistakenly trigger an allergic reaction in your immune system. An allergic reaction to black mold may cause various symptoms, including coughing, sneezing, congestion and irritated eyes.

What happens if you breathe in black mold?

"You may also have stains on the wood veneer of your kitchen and bathroom cabinets and discoloration of floor molding and sheetrock." After learning the warning signs, always do a thorough check of your home if you suspect mold growth. Cleaning mold infestation or removal of damaged surfaces should be done immediately. Exposure to black mold, or any mold, is not healthy and should be avoided. Any type of leak may lead to excessive moisture, which becomes a thriving environment for mold growth.

Warped Paint

If you see any mold signs mentioned, it is essential to eliminate mold colonies before they multiply further. A 2019 review of research into this topic states there’s currently no evidence that mycotoxins in the air cause disease. You can remove a mildew smell from fabrics by washing them with fabric-safe bleach for about 30 minutes. If the item is not machine-washable, you can wash it by hand. Rinse the bleach off and then wash the fabric as you normally would.

How do you treat mold toxicity symptoms?

When we hear the word ‘mold’, we imagine things that make our stomach sick. It makes us imagine the smell of spoiled milk or green patches on old bread. It’s possible to prevent mold overgrowth by keeping your indoor humidity low and your space clean. Keep an eye out for small growths, and do something about mold before it spreads. Resolve any issues causing mold growth, and throw away anything affected by mold or contributing to mold growth that you can’t clean. Particular molds may also cause an asthma attack in people with asthma and increase breathing difficulty in those with a chronic respiratory disease.

The Residential Tenants’ Rights Guide can explain many of the laws that can help you and provide resources where you can find more information about landlord and tenant issues, like mold. Mold has a tendency to grow in bathrooms, basements, and around attics. After being diagnosed with allergies I realized that I had overlooked the hazards of mold for a long time. Mold growth can be a major problem for the structural integrity of our homes and even impact our health. This can be a surprising and worrisome thing to see, however, it’s important to follow it up.

Risk factors

Check your vents, and any room where your breathing problem seems worse, to see if you can find the source of the problem and deal with it. Sometimes it might look like a little grayish fuzz, sometimes, it looks like a bright-colored ooze, and other times it just looks like a slightly darker patch on the wall. Another 2012 review study involving 31 European countries found mold in 1 in 6 homes. The author noted that the prevalence of mold may vary greatly depending on the regional climate. Unfortunately, mold can generate a variety of health problems for humans, too. Mold can affect your pets as much as the humans in your home.

Some exposures in the workplace are risks for developing asthma (e.g., western red cedar; isocyanates). Research shows evidence of an association between damp buildings and asthma symptoms in individuals with pre-existing asthma. There is also evidence of an association between damp buildings and new-onset asthma. Workers in occupations with exposures to biological dust have called HP bird breeder’s lung or mushroom picker’s disease. It has been documented in workers in buildings with mold and bacteria contaminated air-conditioners. This includes spray-water cooling systems (e.g., swamp coolers) and contaminated ductwork and filters.

Place an odor absorber in containers around your house, making sure to change them regularly. Black mold, or Stachybotrys chartarum (also known as Stachybotrys atra), is sometimes found in homes and other buildings. This greenish-black growth can grow on fiberboard, paper, dust, and lint, particularly in recently flooded or water-damaged areas. Mold is a type of fungus and can look like their fungal cousins, mushrooms, and yeasts. There are thousands of types of mold, and their appearance can depend on the type and where it's growing. Mold can be seen gobbling up the dead organic matter on decomposing surfaces like fallen leaves and rotting logs.

Health Problems Related to Dampness and Mold

I have felt the effects of mold allergy symptoms and suffered for a long time. Have you experienced a water damage event such as flooding from a sink, toilet, or a burst pipe in your home? If the water was not effectively and thoroughly removed, mold growth may have resulted. A rotten or musty smell can be an early sign of mold in a home. Mold releases an unpleasant odor as it grows and spreads, and this odor can often be detected before the mold itself is visible. If you notice a strong, musty odor in your home, it is important to locate and address the source of the odor before it spreads to other parts of your home.

So you need to check regularly if white or black spots on your clothes feel fluffy or slimy to the touch. However, we can’t always see the signs when mold infests your home. Mold can grow in the most unexpected spot, even in a sparkling-clean place at your home.

Frequent allergy symptoms could indicate the presence an early sign of mold in your house. Black mold in air vents is harmful not only to the HVAC system but also to those who are exposed to it. One of the other early signs of mold in the house is visible spores. “Generally, you will see black staining or those black dots commonly found where mold growth is present,” Abate says. If there is mold in the air vents, these spores will be located around the vent covers or on the walls or ceiling surrounding the vent. What black mold looks like can vary greatly depending on its location and the environment where it is growing, and it may be black, green, brown, or even yellow.

Once you locate the moisture source, fix the problem before mold grows. Prolonged mold exposure may trigger respiratory disorders such as chronic or recurring bronchitis and pneumonia. If you have been battling a cough that won’t go away, this could be caused by mold in your house. The first thing to do is to visit your doctor to get treatment and to check if there are any underlying illnesses. Also, you need to check if there are other signs of a mold problem in your house. Mold grows quickly on any surface in the house, including carpet, food, wood, and paper.

Mold can develop in as few as 24-hours, so it’s important to begin clean-up and dry-out as quick as possible. Depending on the amount of flooding, it may be necessary to hire a water remediation team. If your home suffers from condensation on windows, basement walls, concrete floors, and on pipes, that contributes to humidity and moisture levels. Insulate pipes to reduce condensation and make sure basements, crawlspaces, and attics are insulated and well-ventilated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends keeping home humidity levels no higher than 50-percent.

To reproduce, molds release spores, which can spread through air, water, or on animals. An experienced professional can also help find the source if you don't see or smell mold but suspect it's hidden. For example, you might know there has been water damage behind a wall or beneath a floor.

It’s worth noting that mold mites, which are common where mold growth is present, can cause similar reactions in those who are allergic to them. These symptoms, sometimes referred to as “mold toxicity,” can affect anyone who comes into contact with mold, not just those who are allergic. Unfortunately, once spores are released into the air, they can stay there for an indefinite amount of time. This is why it’s generally not safe to run an air conditioning unit that has been affected by black mold.

12 Mold Toxicity Symptoms You Shouldnt Ignore And How To Heal

early signs of mold in house

While your home's HVAC system helps with air quality, if there's mold anywhere within the system, it can also spread mold spores throughout the entire house whenever it's running. If you notice a musty odor when the air conditioning is on or see black spots on the A/C filters, you could have a mold problem. "The main visible sign of mold growth is the discoloration of the wall; even if you paint over it, mold will persist and continue to show signs on the surface," Rubino warns. Whether seen or not, it can pose a threat to anyone living in your home. Homeowners need to know the signs of mold, the potential risks of having mold in the home, and how to get rid of it. People without pre-existing lung conditions can also have symptoms like nasal congestion and a sore throat if they live in a house with damp floors or moisture accumulation.

How to Get Rid of Black Mold in Your Home

According to Alex Stadtner of Healthy Building Science, when there's been a single leak or other type of water damage, there will usually be one line that forms around a "pool" of water. But mold can be sneaky, making it hard to find if you don't know exactly what to evaluate. Here, home and mold experts share the typical signs of mold in the house to help you identify if there's an issue.

Rotten Smell

Your home does not have to be filled with standing water to grow mold. Whenever you open a window or go outside, mold can be ushered in through the air or attached to your clothing and shoes. Dust Mite Solutions aims to inform and educate others on indoor allergens.

The 20 Best Lawn Care Products for a Lush and Healthy Lawn

Homes are supposed to shield us from the harmful things outside like water, wind, and extreme temperatures. Sometimes, however, our houses fail to provide the necessary shelter and moisture enters our house and allows mold to grow. While mold doesn't affect everyone, it's important to clean it up quickly and with proper precautions. If you're not comfortable cleaning it yourself, look into  professional mold remediation services.

How does mold get indoors?

Never throw wet or damp clothes into a hamper or store in other unventilated areas—this is a recipe for mold growth. Inspect clothing regularly and keep up with cleaning your washer. "Many times, mold is growing somewhere that is very difficult to see, like the underside of sheetrock walls, or under carpeting, etc.," explains mold inspector Tony Abate. "But, if you follow your nose, that odor is called a microbial volatile organic compound (MVOC), which is a gaseous substance that off-gasses that musty odor." Minor mold issues can be resolved by a homeowner with a cleaning that includes soap and water followed by a solution that kills the mold. The affected areas need to be thoroughly dried to keep the mold from returning.

"If you have a leak from above, this will leave a dark stain on the ceiling, and chances are, there may be mold between the floor above and ceiling below," says Lyle Nearby of AdvantaClean. Compared to an impossible-to-miss water issue (like a burst pipe), a small leak may not sound like a big deal. But, a slow leak (like that from a kitchen faucet) can quickly become a bigger problem—and lead to mold.

Powell adds that closets may often have humidity levels higher than the adjacent living space. She is also a Master Gardener with over 40+ years of experience and 20+ years of writing experience. Mary is also a member of The Spruce Gardening and Plant Care Review Board. Commonly an issue found in older homes, an outdated electrical system can also be costly to fix. Signs of a termite infestation — like sunken in areas in the walls or discarded shells or wings — could also be expensive to fix. GOBankingRates' editorial team is committed to bringing you unbiased reviews and information.

That means how to tell if you have mold in your house is essential to prevent health problems and financial damages. Be sure you are familiar with the early signs of mold in your house so that you can address any potential problems before they get out of control. One of the most common early signs of mold in your house is musty smells. The location of the odor can also help you determine where the mold is. Most people may only experience an allergic reaction or allergy-like symptoms following mold exposure. More rarely, mold can cause more serious health issues in some people with certain risk factors.

There are no federal limits for mold in buildings, so people can't check their apartment complex's compliance with the law, for example. You probably don't need to do mold testing or buy a mold test kit, especially if the fungus is visible. The CDC advises removing mold, no matter what type is in your home if you can see or smell it. If you see warping or paint peeling you may have to remove a section of a wall to see what’s happening within. I occasionally smell dampness under my sink or when I’m in a damp, dark place (under a house). Not all houses have basements but those that do should be aware of potential problems with moisture.

The overt appearance of mold, which is marked by green, black, or white patches on surfaces, is undeniable proof of an infestation. However, many of the initial indicators of mold’s presence are more subtle. One of the early signs is the smell of mold throughout the home, especially in spaces prone to moisture, such as bathrooms, basements, and kitchens.

If something appears unusual to you, make sure to investigate both sides of the carpet and padding. Blood tests can have a higher rate of false-positive results. A false-positive result is when a test says you have a specific allergy, but you don’t. If your tiles seem like they’re always dirty, especially if the dirt and grime come back too quickly after you’ve cleaned them, you might be dealing with mold. In some cases, mold can be eliminated, but in other cases, you may need to get new furniture.

Of course, it’s a normal occurrence to have some mold in a home. A typical home, without any signs of water damage or excessive moisture, can still have anywhere between 1 and 1,500 mold spores per cubic meter of air. Elevated levels beyond this range might suggest water damage or an environment conducive to mold growth, warranting further inspection and possible remediation.

In some people, a mold allergy is linked to asthma and exposure causes restricted breathing and other airway symptoms. People with asthma or who are allergic to mold may have severe reactions. Those with a weak immune system or chronic lung disease may get infections in their lungs from mold. Only a few dozen types of mold are known to trigger health problems at all.

This fast growth of mold is according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Its appearance varies depending on the species and the surface it has latched onto. People with weakened immune systems are also at a higher risk of fungal infections in general, which can include lung infections due to molds.

The Titan explains that the realm is the space in-between realms, and his spirit has been here for a long time, using the dimension's cubes to watch over his son. Luz tells him she had hoped the Collector would blast Belos away, and the Titan relates about how he tried to keep his own son safe, and shows guilt for attacking the wrong person. Luz then asks if trying to save their families makes them as bad as Belos, who was trying to save humanity. However, the Titan states that their ambitions don't come from the same place as Belos', who doesn't care about anything but his deluded belief he is the hero and his fear of losing control. From the genuinely disturbing image of the beating heart above Belos’ throne, to the off-putting.

Storyline

In season two, it is shown that Bump openly enjoys Luz's presence at the school but is forced by the Blights to expel her, Gus, and Willow, despite not wanting to. When they attempt to get back into school, he is upset at having to prevent them from entering, and that he thinks life was dull without them.[8] "Hunting Palismen" reveals that the devil "hat" on his head is actually his palisman Frewin, which allows him to see due to an unspecified incident in his youth. After the students defeat Graye and the Emperor's Coven, Bump gets them to leave by stating that he would tell Emperor Belos that they were defeated by children.[47] He is captured by the Collector after the events of "King's Tide" and the remaining Hexside students create a statue in his honor, though he is later revived. In the epilogue, Bump has retired from being the principal of Hexside, and is last seen watering his plants. “The Owl House” follows Luz, a self-assured teenage girl who stumbles upon a portal to a magical realm where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and a tiny warrior, King.

This declaration became increasingly resonant over the course of “The Owl House’s” three-season run, which concluded Saturday, as the show repeatedly broke new ground for LGBTQ representation in kid-friendly animation. We then return to the fight, where King is trying to harm Belos with his Sonic Shout but is caught by Eda when Belo’s blasts at him once again. They retreat slightly, and though they want to continue fighting, The Collector steps in front of them, begging them both to stop. They’re sorry for everything, and, for the first time, cries, tears pouring from their eyes.

The pacing of the fight picks up again when they arrive, Luz using her new magic to get right up to Belos and start tearing him from the heart. Meanwhile, the other three use their various magical abilities to stop the fungus from reaching them, as well as Luz. However, (with much better pacing than words can do justice) with glowing yellow eyes, and, at last, finding the words for her final battle speech, Luz rips Belos from The Titan’s heart, ending the final battle, but not Belos, not yet.

The Collector has also put Eda and King in a nightmare scenario of their own. Eda is locked in the Confirmatorium by her mother and Lilith, while King is with Bill, surrounded by titan bodies, Bill saying that they’ve “saved the best spot for him.” This is all we see of their nightmares, ad they are much simpler than Luz’s. However, this is a positive, considering that hers is much more complex than Eda’s and King’s, and continues after we see her two friends’ nightmares. As the sun comes out, the magic of the Titan leaves Luz and flies away to the stars, reverting her to regular form. Luz, Eda, and King embrace each other and lie down on the grass, relieved that it is finally over. Luz then remembers the message from the Titan and whispers it to King, "I loaf you", prompting King to laugh at the pun.

” There are SO MANY things in this video that I couldn’t notice, either because of my blindness directly or because the audio description doesn’t/or couldn’t mention it due to time constraints. It truly is amazing how much they managed to fit into the epilogue. I do wish there could have been more voice acting and more time spent on the ending, but, as with most issues with the third season, this is not the fault of the creators but of Disney cutting the time the show had. With all that in mind, I quite enjoyed the finale and thought it was wonderful.

Because we’ve seen Luz work out her issues and confront them head on, it’s very evident how both Belos and the Collector represent these trials that once stood in her way. Emperor Belos, who at this point we know to be the colonial-era witch hunter Phillip Wittebane, represents control and conformity — Luz’s external fears. But the Collector, with their childish impulses and deep insecurities, is more of a reflection of Luz’s greatest anxieties. Now that Luz has conquered them, she can extend a hand to the Collector and try to get him to see what he’s doing wrong.

The series also won an award for Children's & Youth Programming at the 2021 Peabody Awards. My main issue with the beginning of the finale has nothing to do with the finale itself. Since most of the trailer is the first few minutes of the episode, along with the fact that, as the audience, we know that Luz, Eda, and King are asleep, it seems to go very quickly.

Animation Production by

I won’t go into too much detail, as I’m not an audio describer, nor do I feel I have the time to describe the entire battle, but needless to say, this is where most if not all, of the special effects and animation budget went. There are also so many callbacks to things and awesome moments between characters; two of my favorites are when Luz and King both do the Sonic Shout together or when she and Eda make one big magic circle. While they’re doing all of this, among other things, the fungus is replaced with red grass. Also, away from the battle, The Collector is helping rescue everyone from the Archives by holding it up, as they and the main trio see it starting to fall earlier during the fight. Outside the Archive House, Luz, Eda, and King bring the Collector to the Owl House, the place where their friendship began. Luz explains her struggles began in the Human Realm, but she found her way to the Demon Realm thanks to Owlbert and met Eda and King, where they bonded over not fitting in and recounts how they decided to not fit in together.

Other than these issues, though, I really enjoyed this first section of the episode. The fact that Belos actually too of The Titan, just like us fans thought he would, is very satisfying, and I love the development The Collector and The Titans got. It adds so much to the story as a whole, and I can’t wait to rewatch the show to get more of the picture that I couldn’t the first time around. I also really like that the walk down memory lane is both for us, the audience, and helps The Collector develop as a character.

Well, apparently, calling him Dad isn’t entirely accurate, as they quote King by saying, “I am king and queen, best of both things! ” But they also say, “but Dad works fine,” so this is how I will be addressing them. It is revealed that The Collector, and Belos, who, unbeknownst to The Collector, is possessing Raine, are watching this reunion, and The Collector is upset about it, as Belos told him it would work. Belos asks The Collector why they don’t just take them out, to which they respond that they want to be friends with the main trio. Through this conversation, The Collector reveals they can’t hurt King anyway since he’s a Titan, and Titan magic is the only magic that can negate The Collector’s own. It’s this that tells Belos what he should do next, and, after distracting The Collector with the idea of playing with the trio in person, he leaves for the castle and the heart of The Titan.

Three-headed statue that is called forth to perform Eda’s petrification, the episode (and the show as a whole) really can bring some visceral power within the frame. The battle between Belos and Luz was visually tense and well-done, and last episode’s bridge battle between Eda and Lilith was fantastic, really drawing out the power of its two witches and their history into one single, specific fight. Even if the way that sibling was developed seem wobbly, and even if the show felt like they pushed that relationship way too far into the background, it always stood out in every encounter, both mundane and wild. And while the show struggles to really structure and ground a lot of the various relationships, the connection that Eda and Luz have really comes through in that moment before she’s sent up to be petrified.

What isn’t true is that they would truly blame her for these things. That’s what makes what Gus and Hunter say to Luz nightmare-like. It turns out that The Archivists tricked The Collector into going to the Boiling Isles and playing with the baby Titans.
